Preventing Weeds
Categories: News
We all dream of beautiful, weed-free gardens -right?! Striving for a weed-free garden requires diligence throughout the growing season. One of the first lines of defense in your garden is an application of a pre-emergent herbicide such as Preen in March before weeds begin to germinate. Preen creates an invisible barrier that prevents many weed seeds from germinating. Preen must be reapplied every three months during the growing season or when soil is disturbed, such as when you plant annuals in May. As always, we recommend you read the entire label before application.
Unfortunately, Preen will not control existing weeds. These must be pulled, or treated with a post emergent herbicide containing an active ingredient such as glyphosate (Round up). Be careful not to allow drift from Round up to contact plants you want to keep.
May all your weeds be wildflowers!
