Plant colors paint a picture
on the landscape. Their varying hues of blues, yellows and reds create different feelings, calming or exciting us, inviting us to visit.
Pantone is the global color guru. Each year they choose a shade that reflects the mood and attitude of our culture. This year, for the first time, they have blended two colors together, Rose Quartz and Serenity. According to Pantone,
“Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”
Pantone suggests these colors represent the more open, stereotype-free culture our youth are embracing. Incorporating them into our lives displays a more relaxed, accepting form of existence. Including them in our gardens fills our senses with their romance and beauty.
Meadow View grows many plants which reflect these colorful moods. Our perennials such as Echinacea Magnus, Erodium Charm, Caryopteris Petit Bleu, Columbine Alpine Blue, Scabiosa Butterfly Blue, Armeria, Baptisia, Hydrangea L.A. Dreamin’, Rose of Sharon Lavender Chiffon and Rose of Sharon Blue Chiffon have been through a winter and can be placed in the ground whenever the soil is workable. Annuals, such as Summer Jewels Pink Salvia, Scampi Pink Scaevola, Surdiva Light Blue Scaevola and Bubblegum Petunia need to wait to be planted until the threat of frost has passed, generally around May 15.
Come into the greenhouse, pick your favorites and add a sense of tranquility to your garden.
