John, I believe it's too hot and probably too dark in your attic to grow anything there, especially edibles. I you tore a hole in your roof, you might get some sweet potatoes keep their roots in a barrel in the attic and their foliage out on the roof. ;) (Just kidding, even thay wouldn't work because the roof would be too hot.
