: I have conflicting instructions on this bulb. The package says no soil, no water, direct sun until it blooms; dutchbulbs.com said pot in rich soil - do not place in direct sun and an article at essences.com told of the bulb simply being in a dish until it bloomed. That article also stated that the bloom REALLY smells when it opens.

Please help. I don't want to do the wrong thing here and keep this from developing. There is already about a 1/2" protrusion from the bulb, that I'm guessing is
new growth rather than a root??

Thank you so much.

CAROL: If you want this bulb to ever bloom again I think it is wise to plant it in a good soilless potting soil. Grow it in a moderately sunny spot. If you don't care if it ever blooms again and you plan to disgard it after it blooms then try the open dish in the sun. MVG Plant Dr.
