: : I live in central Wisconsin and I would like to plant asparagus roots this spring. Should I buy all male plants or a mixture? Will an all male bed expand? How should I prepare the bed? Should location be full sun or partial shade? What's the best way to keep the weeds down? Is there a product like Round-up for asparagus?

Kiwi Fruit. Grows like a grape vine? How should I prepare the soil? Is full sun or partial shade a better location? Other suggestions or comments?

Thanks for your help

JOE: Regarding the asparagus...male plants will do fine, full sun only, well drained soil with organic matter. Use Preen as a premergence weed control applied in the spring immediately after planting according to the label. Avoid Round Up.
Kiwi will have to be addressed by others. MVG Plant Dr.

I live in Northern California and grow Organic Kiwi.
They are easy to grow and there are no pests which
bother them. The deer are quite a problem here bit they don't bother the kiwi.
They need full sun. Well drained soil. They aren't fussy but pruning is a big deal.
let me know if you have specific questions
