: : i purchased a bay tree from an herbal society sale last
spring. it seemed to thrive during the spring and summer.
now that winter has arrived, several of the branches have
dried leaves on them. what measures can i take to keep
from losing it? is this from a lack of sunlight or humidity?
are there any good references that tell about taking care of
these trees?
thanks!
TAMMMY: Bay trees require full sun and not over watered. They grow very slowly and I know of nothing that will rush them along. Plants that grow this slowly require very little fertilizer and water but must not be let to dry out thoroughly. MVG Plant Dr.
We are interested in the best type of soil for our bay tree. I purchased it in a small pot, and have transplanted it into a pot about 12" diameter, I mixed potting soil and cow manure, about 4:1.... Please let me know if this was a good idea, and if there is something else I should know about helping my little tree to grow.
