I have a garden area in my backyard. The previous owners did not grow a garden and their are a few small tree shoots coming up and a lot of weeds. This fall we covered the area with branches, twigs, and walnut leaves. How do we transform that area into a workable garden for this year? I've already started my seeds indoors. I also have a border flower bed in my backyard, Part of it is right under the faucet for the hose. It pools water right around it and doesn't drain. I want to plant my Peonies there, but I don't want them to wash away or get mold problems.
Any ideas for drainage and for my garden would help.
