I had a big problem with poison ivy here and I thought I could get rid of it through pulling it out, bleaching, digging it out. The only thing which really worked, to my surprise, was Roundup. It does take awhile to see any results, so be patient. The trick is to spray the leaves a few times when it is hot and most humid out. The hotter and more humid, the better the Roundup penetrates and sticks to the leaves. One spraying won't do the job. Once a week for 3 weeks did it for me and the whole vine died, roots and all.
