: Hope someone has experience with this. A small group of "cat tails" (don't know the real name) have spread over the years and are threatening to take over a large pond we have. I'm sure there are products that will kill the plants... but since we stocked the pond with bass and channel catfish, I'm very uneasy about contaminating the water and killing the fish. Or worse yet, not killing the fish but contaminating them and then my family since we often eat the fish. Does anyone have a suggestion on what can be done to control or eliminate these cat tails from taking over the pond. Thank you. It may be helpful to know that we live in south Texas, in case the weather plays a factor in the treatment.
PHILIP: The only experience I have tells me that the water where the cat tails are growing is too shallow. It would be better to dredge the pond so the depth will eliminate this problem.
