I have several starts of Confederate Rose that are doing very well in pots which I kept in a heated greenhouse all winter. The tallest one is about three feet tall, the others approximately two feet. I live in South Central Indiana. From what I have read, these plants can grow up to 15' tall, so it is not feasible for me to keep them in pots much longer. They are hardy in zones 7-9 and I live on the upper edge of zone 6. They can tolerate 15 degree temperature, the tops die off, but the roots are said to be very hardy. Will I be taking a big chance with planting these this far North? I hate to lose these as they were given to me by my Mother, who lived in Louisiana, and passed away last November. Any information you can give me would really be appreciated.
