: I live in the Piedmont of NC and have mostly dogwoods in my front and back yards. 5 of the Dogwoods have gotten a small, spotty type brown fungus and it seems to spread among the Dogwoods. They are mature and beautiful. Is there anything to save them? It's already killed two of the trees...Help.Thanks,Leigh

LEIGH: Hard to say what this is without seeing the trees or taking samples of the leave to the pathology lab. But my guess is that it could be anthraxnos, a disease that is aggrevated by wet weather.
There used to be some good controls for this disease but our friends at EPA have taken them away. I would contact someone at Clemson or other university that can analyze samples of the leaves to be sure what it is and possibly recommend some control measures. Let's not loose anymore trees.
