Wow, what a great site! Wish I had found it sooner.

I was unable to find the answer to this question anywhere, and wondered if you could help. We purchased an old property, with about 1 1/2 acres, Zone 5, over-run with blackberries and covered in tulips (over 450 flowering plants last year) and poppies (probably 100 or so). The first year we were unable to mow any of it, due to the time of year we purchased. Last year we got alot of it cleaned up but didn't mow where there were tulips and poppies. Problem is, it is quite shady and the flowers come out after everyone else's are gone, and by the time the leaves die back enough, the grass is waist high and impossible to cut. I dug like crazy last fall, and transplanted oodles of bulbs, and wouldn't you know it....the lawn is still covered in tulips this spring. Can I dig them up now that they are coming up, or will that kill the bulb? I don't really care if they don't flower in the next year, just don't want to kill them and would like to return some sense of order to the lawn. Also how do you transplant poppies? Are all poppies annuals and these new ones all came from the seed pods? I have no idea what kind these are. I have never seen them in a magazine, and the neighbours told us the guy who lived there before was trying to propagate a new variety. Help?
