JEANNE: Cedar mulch can be a termite deterrent but the color of the mulch is not as desirable as some of the others that are available if you are looking for a rich, dark color. Most mulches are composted and if any critters are present they are destroyed in this "heating" process.
It would be better to treat with an insecticide to control the termites. MVG Plant Dr.
