: I have just moved into a new home, and along my driveway is a monsterest wall of bamboo I would like to know what type of herbicide I can buy as a home owner. I am not interested in selling it or controling it; I just want to get rid of it; with the least amount effort. And I don't want to use any thing that will harm the enviroment, like petrolem products.
The bamboo I am familiar with is japanese knotweed.
RoundUp will kill bamboo. I don't even cut it or try to dig up the roots. Just let it grow until it is in full bloom then spray the foliage thoroughly on a hot humid day with no rain in the forecast. This will kill about ninety percent of the stand. Repeat the next year, this will kill about ninety percent of the ten percent that survived the first spray. Now you have about one percent of the original stand. You should be able to finish this off the third season.
