: I PLANTED AN AVOCADO SEED AND IT IS GROWING QUITE WELL IN A POT--ABOUT 8 INCHES HIGH. I HAVE A NUMBER OF QUESTIONS. FIRST 2 BRANCHES OR SHAFTS ARE GROWING OUT OF THE SEED. IS THIS NORMAL--IS IT TWO DIFFERENT TREES?SECOND WILL AN AVOCADO TREE GROW IN CENTRAL FLORIDA -ORLANDO IN MY YARD OR IS IT TOO COLD?THIRD IN ORDER TO GET FRUIT DO I NEED TWO PLANTS TO FERTILIZE ONE ANOTHER LIKE A PAPAYA TREE? FINALLY WHEN CAN I PLANT IT OUTSIDE--HOW BIG DOES IT HAVE TO BE. BY NOW YOU REALIZE THAT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING FRESH GUACOMOLE FOR BREAKFAST. THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE.

STEVE: Just do it! I really don't know, maybe your county agent can help you. If I were you I would just follow my gut instinct and see what happens, the worst situation is that you will have to start over and try another method. We do this all the time in this business and that is the fun of it when you find the solution. You are not going to die or go broke if you fail. When you find the combination you will be able to answer all the questions. MVG Plant Dr.
