: I have several large lilac bushes, both lavendar and white. A developer is
trying to buy our land and we may have to move. Is there any way I can move
these bushes? I really don't want to see them destroyed.
Thanks
Dear Mary,
In my opinion, negotiate a good price for the land and buy new bushes for your new home.
Unless there is some historic or tremendously sentimental value (your grandfather bred this unique variety and only two remain in the whole world) this effort is not worth it. Even if there was such a value it would be better to take cuttings or dig sprouts from around the base.
