Thanks very much for the link to the web site. I knew this is what we needed to do, but wasn't sure how to find someone qualified.

: : Hi. I have a big beautiful Maple tree in my front yard that, all of a sudden, seems to be dying. The leaves started wilting, curling up, turning brown and falling off. This just started two to three weeks ago and seems to be progressing fast. We also noticed that there appears to be some rot at the base of the tree. Any suggestions? I live in Ohio, if that makes any difference. Thanks for the help, we definitely want to save the tree if possible.

Sorry to say that the rot has probably killed the root system. You should be prepared to have the tree removed if falling limbs could endanger life or property.

You can of course engage the services of an arborist to inspect the tree.
