2 years ago I planted several poplars ranging in size from a plug to 20 ft. tall. This year some trees are growing leaves from the ground half way up the tree. No sign of life is on the top half of the tree. This is happening to 75% of the 100 trees planted. Does anyone know why this occurs? In addition the trees that are healthy are not growing any twigs on the bottom of the tree.
