How can I stop a yucca plant from regrowing? We dug out mother plant(s?) last year and now we have at least 6 new plants coming up despite all discouragement from me. The mother root grew under my concrete steps at my back door so we were unable to totally get it all out. We removed because it was causing my steps to be destroyed literally. It was also way too big to be right at door coming in & out. I hated to kill off when it produced two beautiful stalks approx 7ft high of white bell flowers but it was just too big where it was. Now I am afraid I'm going to have a flowerbed full with all the new growth. I have irises growing within 3-4 ft and do not want to loose them. When I received yucca seedling from neighbor that was moving years ago, I had no knowledge of what it was only flower of some kind-ooops!-now I have big problem. Thank goodness I did not plant the rose of sharon tree she gave me in that spot since it is now a beautiful BIG tree in my backyard. Any help very appreciated.
