: I have an alberta spruce about 4 years old, three and a half feet high. The top of two sides are brown. We planted it and let it go, until know it has growm tall and wide each year. What could be wrong? I live in PA, anything I could do to save it, is it a problem?
STEVE: This could be winter damage if the browning is on the south or west sides. Or, it could be spider mite damage. Spider mites are a problem for Alberta Spruce. Spray with a good miticide if you suspect this problem. Check by shaking a branch on white paper and smearing with your finger, if this smears red you have the mites. Spray will be required once every 2 weeks for control. MVG Plant Dr.
