: : I live in rural SE Wisconsin area. We planted 3 Austrian Pines from a reputable nursery about 3 years ago. A year later, a neighbor planted a "plantation" of Austrian Pine trees probably dug from some other location and replanted. Last year I noticed the needles on our Austrian Pines turning a reddish brown and then dying branch by branch, generally bottom up; I also noticed the trees in the "plantation" across the street had the same problem. I was told this is "red ban" disease. What do we do? Please help.
LAURA: Not much to do, unfortuneately. It appears this is a fatal fungal disease, no know control other than destroying infected plants.
