I think that it has been spreading via underground runners . It seems to be travelling along the walls of the house and is attaching little rootlets along the foundation of the house, as well as sending out side runners. I find these tough roots whenever when I dig about 8-12 inches down in the general area. It seems to be spreading everywhere. How do I get rid of it ? I have been digging it up whenever I find it. LORI: Try spraying with Round-Up. This will not harm the soil but is systemic to the plant and will eventually kill it. As old as the plant is it may take several applications. MVG Plant Dr.
