: I recently aquired a medium sized lavender plant. It has about 5 inches of old wood on it and about 18 inches of new growth. It has been in the ground for about 6 days. It has had about 2.5 inches of rain added to it in the last 3 days. It is in full sun. It is looking very droopy and has lost some of its lovely scent. Do I need to prune it more? I cut off about 4 inches all over and all the dead stuff. Or do I need to just weather this year out and wait for its spring return. This is my first lavender plant and I love it already, so I would really like to salvage it.
KIM: I would prune back the top to about 6", keep it watered but not soaked, and provide some temporary shade if that is possible. It should come around in a month or so. MVG Plant Dr.
