Many people who derive their living from the harvesting do not actually own
their own combines so rent them from their local, John Deere or Massy
Ferguson dealer.

The Wurzels being busy stars in the entertainment industry probably can only
maintain a modest acreage, and though having a lucrative K-Tel record deal
probably did not feel the need to buy a harvester outright.

As any one who has hired a car from a reputable source knows you usually get
the latest model.

So it is my belief that the Worzels did indeed have a new combine harvester
every year, by virtue of a rental agreement from a reputable supplier of
heavy agricultural equipment.

This allows the song to remain as relevant today as the day it first stormed
the charts.
