: My parents are moving off the farm that my Dad was raised
on. There are some rosebushes that were my grandmothers.
What would be the best method and time to transplant these
rose bushes? We live in Iowa and have had a very dry growing
season so the roses are probably under stress. Thanks for the help
RICH: The only time to transplant your roses successfully is in the early spring, before the plants break dormancy. At that time you can prune the tops back to about 12", and no need to take any soil with them. Just be sure to get as many roots as you can. MVG Plant Dr.
