getting plants ready for the winter

Hi!
I have azalea bushes, hydrangena and spirea bushes planted around my house. What do I need to do to get them ready for the winter?? Do I prune them or leave them as they are? Thanks for your help!

  • Pruning spirea bushes---How far down should you prune spirea bushes? Should I leave any of the dead flowers on or can I prune them nearly to the ground. Mine have become so bushy that you can not tell that their are individual plants there. I want to know that I have 3 individual bushes not a headge of spirea bushes.
