: I live in Tucson, Arizona, and I am wondering if there is a special method of properly trimming tall palm trees.
Recently, the palm tree in front of our house was trimmed, and shortly thereafter, a huge pile of the trimmed lower stubs (from the lower portion of the green treetop) came crashing onto the lawn. I have not noticed this happening to other palms that are trimmed and wonder if the wrong technique is being used.
Thanks.
D: Maybe someone from you part of the country can advise you. We midwesterners don't know much about palm trees.
The only thing I can tell you is that when any plant is trimmed the preferred method is to remove the branches as close to the branch or trunk that remains as possible. If this wasn't done this could be the problem. Your local certified nurseryman or county agent would be a good contact for information. MVG Plant Dr.
