: I just bought some clematis in small packages at a local
home improvement store. The plants are beginning to sprout
already. I live in North Carolina so we have about another
month of frost possible.
Since the plants are sprouting already, do I need to
wait until after the frost to plant them or can I do
it now?
Paul, what does the box store say to do with it? It is too early to plant them out side and they should be planted before they start to grow. Now that you have this inexpensive plant you will have to invest more to keep it going, plant it in a 6" pot with good potting soil and give it full sun, outside preferably, bringing it in when it is going to freeze. Plant it in it's permenant location after the danger of frost. Earl
