EVIE: Clematis are normally produced from softwood cuttings in the early summer. Planting seeds, if you can find them will not necessarily give you another plant that looks similar to the parent. Check Clematis Propagation on the web or at your local library. MVG Plant Dr.
Are there certain strains of climatis which are less likely to be affected by wilt? I have heard that the plant should be planted 8-12 inches deep to help prevent wilt but does this not mean that wilt is not actually prevented - the plant is only better placed to recover?
