I have inherited a previously poorly kept Yucca houseplant. It has a central 'trunk' (about 2.5-3 feet high) with two fairly long (about 1 foot)yellowish,soft-ish branch-like structures with the normal green spiky leaved foliage at the end of these 'branches'. I read somewhere that, if kept in poor lighting conditions, the Yucca will branch out to reach the light. It has now got to the stage where the branch-like structures will snap off under the weight of the foliage. My questions are:
1. Should I cut off the branches - if so, how exactly?
2. If I do this, are there any different arrangements I need to do re. food, water, light, temperature until new growth starts?
3. How can I ensure that this doesn't happen again (I have it in a location indoors that gets maximum light)?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
