: I too bring my boston ferns into my basement in the winter. I put them under grow bulbs. I'm not sure if I'm watering them too much or too little, but the leaves are turning brown and falling off. Did you ever find the answer to your question? My basement is around 60-65% too.

I keep Boston ferns inside my home all winter long. Why not bring them upstairs where you can enjoy them? They will do well in subdued light and need to preferably be immersed in the sink once a week or watered thoroughly. I put liquid plant food in the water. They will always lose some fronds periodically. You can weekly just trim off the dead ones. They provide easy delicate greenery all year round.
