: I am trying to take cuttings from a grape vive and have little success. I put the cuttings in soil and they ahve all died. I would appreciate any suggestions for probagating a grape vine.

I have had very good success rooting cuttings that are taken in winter when the plants are dormant. As a matter of fact, I simply prune the vines as needed, then take foot-long pieces of these year-old vines and bury them in good garden soil until spring. Make sure there are several buds (leaf junctions) on each length you choose, and bury most of it in the ground. In late spring you will know which ones have rooted, and can transplant them to pots or wherever else you wish. Good luck.
