: My husband wants a hedge maze, and since i didn't marry a millionaire.... i was wondering if anyone has grown Amur Privet Hedge/Ligustrum amurense from seed. I found a sight selling the seeds. I live in central wa. Hot summers, gets up to 100 (or over). Cold windy winter with lots of snow sometimes. Can get about -10 to -20 probably with the wind chill. What are the odds they would make it here? If not is their a similar breed that might. I just love the look of them. I have been told they may not keep their green thru the winter if it gets cold. Any ideas?
This is a fast growing shrub that grows great from seed. May loose most of its leaves in the winter. It should do fine in the winter. If you have a hot and extremely dry summer, keep them watered.
