: : I started out with beautiful hanging baskets of Purple Wave Petunias. Recently I have noticed a lot of white flies and aphids and they are turning the foliage brown. I have sprayed with Liquid Sevin. I would like to know if there is something else I need to be doing. Thanks
Cheryl,
Use Safer's Insecticidal soap (as directed) instead of Sevin. I had the same problem last year and the soap solution kept things under control. make sure, tho, to totally soak underneath as well as the soil.
I don't have any experience with the white flys, however, you shouldn't have to worry about the Aphids. They have no mouth and don't affect the flower. Funny as this will sound they will just one day
up and leave on their own. I have seen this many times. The fact that things are turning brown could be due to the white fly or the insectide you are using.
