: I planted a yoshino cherry tree last year in the back yard. The location was in full sun. The tree did fine
until last week, when it lost all of its leaves over night. My next door neighbor was having problems with Japanese beatles wich he sprayed for just prior to the leaves coming off.I thought that might be the problem, but the leaves that came off the tree showed no sign of being eaten.I sprayed the tree that day with an insecticide. What could the problem be? And what are the chances of the tree surviving with no leaves?

John, The defoliation may not be related to the beetle situation.
Have you ever used your sprayer for weed killer application? Have you checked the tree for borers? What other environmental situations have occured in the past couple of weeks? Earl
