Before leaves open in the spring is when you want
to transplant your oak. Dig a hole big enough to
put a 10 gallon can into. Take as many roots as
will fit into your new hole with the oak when you
dig it up. This is a full days work in heavy soil.

Do water it in well, add supplimental water every
week. Do not add fertilizer in the hole. If you
simply must fertilize use 10-10-10 on your lawn.
Compost on your lawn works fine too.

Mulch and stake out an area to keep the mower
away from your new transplant.
