: : I'm in the New York area 70 miles from NYC. I currently brought a home and I'm looking for FAST GROWING TREES..NYC kid needs help!! Looking for a varity of trees that will also improve my landscape.

First a warning, and I speak from experience. IF you're going to plant some fast growing trees, you need to know that the very trait of "fast growth" sacrifices a long-lived tree. The fast-growers are generally short-lived (they put all their energy into growing and they grow themselves to death), they're soft wooded and prone to disease. If you decide on a fast tree, interplant with slower growers, so that when the fast ones reach life expectancy and you have to cut them down, you'll end up with some venerable, mature hardwoods. My suggestion is to find a REPUTABLE (which is generally more expensive) tree nursery and work with them on your choices for your area. REMEMBER, the trees you choose, if well chosen, will increase your property's value. It's worth the effort and expense. Take a sketch of your property including positioning of home with you. God bless you and your new land!
