: I have just decided to get into gardening, so I know NOTHING. I have just received some Lamb's Ear seeds that I bought through an auction. First of all are they supposed to be black specks?? Secondly, I want to plant (and grow) them inside. Can someone please tell me what to do.

Thank you.

Valencia, We plant the seed in the summer but it could be planted now, I presume. Use a good potting soil and sow the seed in little rows in a flat. If you cover the seed at all just barely cover it. The soil sould be close to 70F and plenty of light during the day. Keep damp but not soaking wet. Germination should occur in about 2 weeks. After the seedlings are about and inch tall and good and sturdy transplant them into flats or pots, try to time this so they can go outside at this time without the danger of freezing.
Another way to propagate them is by cuttings or divisions, this might be easier. Earl
