Let The Games Begin

MVG’s Perennial Madness Competition is a single-elimination tournament where 32 perennial plants
compete in five rounds to be crowned the
MVG Perennial Plant of the Year.

Participation

Participants can enter by filling out a bracket and voting for their favorite plants!

Fill out your proposed winner for each match and then turn it back into MVG (email or in-person) by Wednesday, 3.9.2022.

The brackets will lock before the first game of the first round begins, so get your picks in before then.

Once the game begins, each perennial plant match will be posted on MVG’s website and social media where everyone can vote for their favorite plants. The plant with the highest vote wins the match and moves on to the next round. 

Encourage friends and family to vote for your favorite plant to help your perennial move forward. Win points for each winning plant on your bracket.

Random plugs, prizes, and gift certificates will be awarded throughout the competition.

How The Points Are Tallied

Depending on the round, different points are awarded for each winning perennial. 1st round winning plants will receive 1 point, Sweet 16 round winners will receive 2 points, Quarter Final winners will receive 4 points, Semifinal winners will receive 8 points. The winning plant of the final round will receive 16 plants and be crowned the Perennial Plant of the Year for MVG.

The Winner Goes To

The person who has the bracket with the most amount of points will win the first-place prize of a full tray of perennials in our Perennial Madness Sale (50 starter plants and 50 pots to replant the = $130 value). The second-highest points will receive a 1/2 tray of plants in our Perennial Madness Sale (25 starter plants and 25 pots to replant them = $65 value). Third place will win 10 perennial plugs along with 10 pots to replant them ($46 value).
